Financing Improvement of Biodiversity
Biodiversity refers to the variety of plants and animals on earth or in a certain habitat. The future of humanity is dependent on biodiversity, so there is a need to protect it by all means because that's where our life is anchored.
Financing to improve biodiversity is done worldwide by individuals and organizations. Some of the ways used to fund improvement of biodiversity include;
The Global Environment Facility (GEF)
The most crucial funding source for diversity and its related activities is the Global Environment Facility (GEF), which focuses on the financial mechanism of the convention. The GEF is committed to supporting the implementation of the Global Taxonomy Initiative, whose major purpose is to improve biodiversity for present and future purposes. Financial resources have been key in fueling the improvement of international biological diversity.
Funds from Global Social Organizations
Global organizations have been at the forefront in funding the improvement of biodiversity. Such organizations are all over the world, and they have been funding biodiversity at local and global levels.
These organizations include; world bank, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, African Wildlife Foundation (AWF), American Society for Microbiology, African Conservation Foundation, and American Society of Primatologists (ASP) just to mention a few.
Funding from Governments
Governments all over the world have been taking a leading role in financing the improvement of biodiversity. For instance, both the local and federal governments have been funding the improvement of biodiversity in the entire USA. Funds have been allocated to buy seedlings for afforestation and reforestation.
Governments have been funding the preservation of water sources by planting trees on water catchment areas and establishing police forces responsible for enforcing biodiversity law. Governments also fund wildlife ministries and departments that deal with conservation and improvement of biodiversity such as, game parks and game reserves.
Funds from Well-Wishers
Well-wishers have been giving individual funds as well as organizing fund drives to raise environmental funds. Such funds are channeled into biodiversity improvement activities such as planting trees, cleaning dumping sites and educating the society on how to improve biodiversity in their daily activities.
This ensures that the issue of improving biodiversity is embraced by everybody in the society rather than leaving it to organizations and governments. For instance, Uganda in Africa is known to have rotary programs that raise funds to improve biodiversity in the country.
Learning Institutions Investing in Environmental Clubs
Eco-Green clubs have been established by most of the learning institutions in the united states of America and behold. These clubs are in primary, high schools and universities. These schools have been allocating budgets in every financial year to ensure the clubs are active and effective.
Eco-Green clubs are charged with the responsibility of ensuring their schools and the surrounding environs have a developing or well-developed biodiversity. Members of Eco-Green clubs not only plant trees, but they also educate the society on the importance of conserving wildlife.
Eco-Green clubs may be the most permanent way of investing in improving biodiversity. There is a probability of 70% of the world's population to go through such clubs while in school. This means generations will be able to conserve and improve biodiversity naturally.
